
Bonnieux Cottage (pronounced “bon yur”)
Historic early Wairarapa cottage built in about 1880. Five minutes walk from Martinborough's Square and opposite one of the village’s earliest wooden churches. Three minutes walk from the town swimming pool.
Fully self contained with three bedrooms and two bathrooms (one ensuite). Sleeps 5 in two queen bedrooms and a single bedroom. Wood panelled lounge and two attic rooms to explore and relax in.
The cottage was added to in the early 1900s with a large open plan kitchen and dining room, plus a second sitting area and large bathroom.

The cottage contains many original features including old totara and matai floors, wood paneling in the lounge and hallway, exposed wooden feature walls in the front bedrooms and a narrow, hand carved totara staircase.
Decor and furnishings are all of high quality and add to the feeling of being in a beautifully restored, early New Zealand home.
The kitchen includes microwave and a full range of crockery, cutlery, glassware, cookware, serving dishes and an espresso coffee machine. The dining table seats six.
The lounge, kitchen and the main bedroom have TV sets with Sky satellite, including movies and sport. The lounge also has a DVD/video and an inbuilt woodburner. A heat pump looks after the temperature in the open plan kitchen-dining room.
The main bathroom has a clawfoot bath, toilet and separate shower. The ensuite bathroom has a shower and toilet.

Other facilities include a washing machine, ironing board and iron and heaters in every room. All beds have electric blankets and Egyptian cotton sheets.
French doors from the dining room open onto a private sheltered deck with outside table, seating for six and a gas BBQ. This area is surrounded by jasmine and wisteria and is perfect for outdoor entertaining at any time of year.
Further outdoor areas include seats on the front verandah and a seating area at the back of the house with table and chairs. The gardens at the front and the back of the house are full of flowers and climbing roses. There is also a petanque court and a set of boules.

The narrow, steep stairs to the attic and the historic nature of the cottage mean it is not suitable for small children.
$175 couple first night, $150 second night. Longer stays and midweek stays negotiable. Two night minimum stay over weekends.
Extra persons $40 per person per night.
Usual check-in and check-out times are 1.00 p.m. and 11.00 a.m. respectively.
